haven't been in school for a while and are not prepared for
college level courses.This is a short orientation style website
meant to ease students into the transition
of the college environment. It is not intended to be difficult
nor overly involved but instead is presented in an easy simple
manner as to make the introduction fun
and the learning acceptable.

The Nontraditional Student
Success in the College Environment
This is a short orientation style website designed to prepare the nontraditional student for the college environment and provide working study skills needed to succeed in college courses. This unit implements Bloom’s Taxonomy and is built upon Gagne’s systematic model of instructional design. Since learning components are designed around different maturity and ability levels, instructional strategy is selectively planned to introduce new learning behaviors rather than designing strategies for all learners in all instructional settings (Dick, Carey & Carey, 2009). Bloom’s taxonomy provides a pattern of diverse elements or parts to form a whole with emphasis on creating new meaning while at the same time is capable of supporting the instructional strategies of andragogical theories. This learning space will serve the purpose of prepping nontraditional students to the college environment in a number of ways such as attitude, overload, learning styles, manageing time etc. It scaffolds into more challenging study skills but due to time will serve as only a introductory website. The following topics will cover:
The active and strategic learner
Understanding the characteristics of successful students
Using learning styles to enhance performance
Time management: simple tips in learning how to balance school, home and work responsibilities
